Welcome to Chocowinity, North Carolina 27817
Chocowinity is located 5 to 10 minutes South on Highway 17 from Washington, North Carolina.

Chocowinity is located on the South side of the Pamlico River and even has a bay named in its honor. The name Chocowinity means “fish from many waters” and probably comes from the Indian spelling “Chocowanateth” or “Chockewinwhee. Shad, perch, red breast, black fish, pickerel, jack, rock, bass, trout, and sturgeon have all been caught in these waters. It is apparent that the bay bearing the name of Chocowinity is spawning and feeding grounds of “fish from many waters”.
Both established and new waterfront subdivisions are a feature in every town in Beaufort County. Manufactures have chosen to locate here because of the lack of bumper-to-bumper to bumper traffic, reasonable tax rates and a solid business climate. The workforce is engaged in diesel fuel pumps, acrylic yarn, powerboats, phosphoric acid and precision-machined parts. The diversity not only strengthens the economy but provides ample evidence of the capabilities of the local people. Beaufort County-a solid business environment in a delightful coastal setting.
